WHO WE ARE |
|
TLAHUICA SPANISH LANGUAGE LEARNING CENTER in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico is designed to help its students develop conversational fluency, vocabulary, grammar and skills in pronunciation, reading and writing, in the shortest possible time. Its programs provide real-life situations for learning and practicing Spanish at any level. The school benefits from the experience of its founders who taught Spanish at several Peace Corps programs in the United States and decided to implement the same system of total immersion where the student is surrounded by Spanish all day. It was both gratifying and amazing for the founders to see how, after several weeks of intensive Spanish, the students were able to work and communicate fluently in Spanish-speaking communities. TLAHUICA is now staffed with highly trained professional and experienced native-Mexican faculty, following the same total immersion concept that has already helped a variety of students including teachers, executives, college and high school students, diplomats and foreign service personnel. TLAHUICA is registered with the American Embassy in Mexico, the Tourism Department in Cuernavaca, Morelos and in the Chamber of Commerce. The total immersion program in the classroom and in other activities ensures that the student will quickly become comfortable in speaking Spanish. In order to give individual attention to each student, classes are limited to no more than five students per teacher. Living in Cuernavaca with a family from Mexico is a very positive and important part of our program. Meals are eaten with the family and all conversation is in Spanish. Students often form life-time friendships with their Mexican family. High school groups have enjoyed TLAHUICA to help them prepare to take the Advanced Placement Exams. College-level groups or individuals have benefitted from the classes and have received credit for the courses studied. Special rates for high school or university groups are available. Business executives are able to enroll in special private classes where Spanish is studied for eight hours a day with an emphasis on business vocabulary. Cuernavaca is internationally known for its Spanish language schools. For over 30 years it has been the center of Spanish studies. Its semi-tropical climate, lush and abundant vegetation, and its sun-filled days make it an ideal place to live and study. The Tlahuicans, for which the Center is named, were the Indians who established themselves in Morelos. They lived here from the 13th century, long before America was discovered, and were defeated three times by the Aztecs until they were finally vanquished. |
